Greetings: Welcome to fall and the start of our 11th year of school. Fully enrolled again this year with 60 students. We wish to thank all of you for your continued support.
The yearlong celebration of our 10th Anniversary was gifted with a generosity beyond all expectation. Scholarships provided by Newburgh native and world-renowned author James Patterson and the High Schools administrations have been awarded, enabling our entire graduating class to attend two prominent Hudson Valley Catholic Schools. Nine of our graduates are attending Our Lady of Lourdes High School in Poughkeepsie and two are enrolled at Kennedy Catholic High School in Sommers.
Our Extended Day Program continues to flourish thanks to the generosity of Catholic Charities, the Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson Valley and our volunteers. Our Graduate Support Program continues to follow our alumnae with four classes in high school and three in college or post-secondary education.
We just concluded our very successful 13th annual Autumn Glow Gala. We want to applaud our wonderful MC for the event, past president of the NCPA Board Karen DeCrosta and a very special thanks to all of our sponsors, donors, attendees, volunteers, staff, the Cronin Family, Joanne O’Brien our NCPA Board President and the entire NCPA Board, our NCPA students and the good folks at the Powelton Club for hosting us.
We ask that you please support the local businesses that have placed ads in the journal or donated goods or services to the event.
Mary McClennan and Nora Miceli our Gala Chairwomen and the Gala Committee did an outstanding job again this year. Thank You both. The Live Auction with Robert Hatfield acting as auctioneer was especially fun and productive this year with a number of great auction items including a very special gift from author James Patterson. The top bidder for this item get’s to provide a child’s name to be used as a character in one of Mr. Patterson’s new books, what an enduring legacy.
Congratulations to our 2017 Lantern Honorees, the Academy celebrates these members of the NCPA family for their significant donation of time, talent and support for our mission to serve young girls in Newburgh and the Hudson Valley area, providing a vision of success through education and the means to achieve it. Karen and Gregory Dietz, NCPA Board of Trustees and Philanthropists, Melanie Butschere Fescoe, NCPA Faculty Master Teacher, Director of the Graduate Support Program, and the Dominican Sisters of Hope with more than 100 years of service in the Hudson Valley. We are happy to share some of the photos from the Gala here.
If you missed the Gala and wish to make a donation you can do so through PayPal on our website or simply send a check to NCPA. If you’d like to make a gift of stock or include us in your will please contact Sister Yliana to make arrangements.
We wish to thank retiring NCPA Board Member Ellenjane Gonyea for her years of dedicated service, she will be missed but we know that she’s always there for NCPA.
Exciting news for 2018, yes the new year is only 3 months away. Through the generous donation of Board Member Linda Magnusson Rosario and her husband Steve, we have in the works what we know will be a successful new major annual fundraising Spring event. On Saturday, May 12th we are hosting a “Spicy Spring Dance Concert” event with world-renowned musician Tito Puente Jr and his Ensemble at The Ritz in Newburgh. We hope that you will join us. Details will be posted soon on our website www.noracroninpresentationacademy.org. We can most definitely use your support to help make this event another great success like our just completed Gala.
You are welcome to come by the school for a visit at any time. Please call to arrange.
It is only through your generous donations that we are able to continue our mission and keep the miracle called Nora Cronin Presentation Academy alive to provide a path out of poverty for girls in Newburgh and the Hudson Valley.
Thank You and Bless You All. “Not Words But Deeds.”
